The quota for fully open journals (258) in the 2022 agreement with Springer has recently been exhausted on the 6th of December 2022. The possibility to publish in the publisher's corresponding hybrid journals is not affected by this exhaustion, authors are welcome to continue submitting manuscripts to these journals, and all APC applications received may be approved.

Between the 5th of December 2022 and the 27th of February 2023, the archives can only be visited by Email registration. The archives will be closed between the 19th of December 2022 and the 8th of January 2023.

The training of secondary school teachers began at our university in the second half of the 19th century. The records of the examinations of teachers were preserved in the period between 1864 and 1949. In our database there are currently 9236 names.

The opening hours of the ELTE University Library and Archives will be changed from the 5th of December 2022. Our library will be open on weekdays between 9.00 and 15.00 to offer our readers a full range of services, on Saturdays our Reading Hall is available for study and reading. Borrowed books may be returned using our Bibliobox in the lobby until 18.00 on opening days. Thank you in advance for your understanding and supportive cooperation.

The ELTE IT Directorate discontinued the Stunnel service with effect of November 8, 2022. Instead, the VPN service can be used by both ELTE employees and students. Anyone who does not already have one, must apply for VPN service.

The World Who's Who online database published by Taylor and Francis is available as part of a thirty-day trial. Trial access lasts until November 30, 2022.

The University Library and Archives has requested trial access to the database Das Diensttagebuch von Wolfram Sievers und das SS-Ahnenerbe (1941–45) (SAEO) published by De Gruyter. The database is a primary source for researching Nazi Germany, and can be subscribed to it from November 2022. Trial access runs until December 6, 2022.

ELTE was granted access to Gale's collection of three primary sources for thirty days. The collections contain searchable digital versions of American newspapers. The database can be accessed in the ELTE IP range or by using a VPN service.

In the autumn 2021, in response to the recent trends in scientific communication, the University Library and Archives of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE EKL) conducted a survey on the management of research data. The target audience of the survey included all lecturers, PhD students and PhD candidates at ELTE, in total about 6,850 university citizens. The survey results have been published in the journal titled Scientific and Technical Information (Tudományos és Műszaki Tájékoztatás). The article is now available on the STI homepage.

The ELTE University Library and Archives has developed a common search interface for ELTE secondary school libraries with the help of a grant. GIMIfind can be accessed directly from the web address or from the common catalogue of ELTE libraries.

The periodical collection of the University Library is now accessible online. The collection includes approximately 207 000 volumes of 11 500 titles covering various subjects such as philosophy, theology, history, church and religious studies and law. The constantly expanding collection provides current scientific literature published in Hungarian and a selection of international journals.
