On the occasion of Museum Night, we cordially invite everyone to a screening of Ferenc Rofusz’s short films, with the animator himself providing commentary.
With this animated adaptation of Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper, the filmmakers aim to pay tribute to this unparalleled masterpiece. While the image symbolizing human transience may be lost or disappear, the message of redemption and love is universal and eternal for all of humanity.
Our guest at this special event hosted by the ELTE University Film Club is Ferenc Rofusz, a Hungarian animation director who has been honored with the Order of St. Stephen and the title of Artist of the Nation, and who is a recipient of both the Kossuth Prize and an Oscar. He is credited with winning the first Oscar ever awarded to a Hungarian production, which he received in 1981 in the Best Animated Short Film category for his three-minute film The Fly. During the evening, we will screen all of his animated short films and, with his guidance, take a journey through his unique oeuvre.
Venue: ELTE University Library and Achives, Magazine Reading Room, 1st floor
Date and time: 20 June 2026, 8:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
