JSTOR has announced that its interactive research tool will become available to institutional users starting March 26, 2025, at no additional cost. The tool utilizes artificial intelligence and other technologies to support research, enabling deeper analysis of JSTOR content and the discovery of new connections.
Features of the Interactive Research Tool
- Text Analysis and Key Point Highlighting – The tool helps identify the main arguments and key elements of a given text, facilitating a quick assessment of its relevance.
- Recommendation of Related Content – It suggests relevant articles and studies within the JSTOR database based on thematic similarities. The tool exclusively uses resources available on JSTOR and does not access external content.
- Answering User Questions – Based on the selected content, the tool generates responses to user queries, supporting deeper research and uncovering connections between pieces of information.
Availability and Usage
The tool will be available for select journal articles, book chapters, and research reports on JSTOR. To access it, users must be signed into their personal JSTOR accounts.
Since its limited release, JSTOR’s interactive research tool has already supported over 68,000 researchers in 162 countries worldwide. The new features aim to help users explore and analyze academic content available on JSTOR more effectively.
