The ELTE–NFI University Film Club screening and discussion series continues. We welcome university members from all ELTE faculties.

The LIBER AI Pulse webinar series, conducted in English, explores current issues surrounding artificial intelligence as they relate to research libraries through a series of concise, 30-minute online presentations. The autumn sessions will address copyright and licensing matters concerning artificial intelligence, as well as the role of AI literacy and library competencies, with a particular focus on research library practice. These webinars are free of charge but require registration; they offer an opportunity to share professional experiences and discuss AI-related topics of importance to library professionals.

Due to the national holiday, the ELTE University Library and Archives will be closed on 23 and 24 October 2026.

In the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee’s third-quarter report for 2026, the working group leaders provided an overview of the results from the past quarter, as well as ongoing work and changes.

On October 26, 2026, Clarivate will host a webinar in Hungarian titled "Smarter Literature Management with EndNote Online: Organize, Cite, and Share," which demonstrates the practical use of the EndNote Online reference management system. Participants will learn how to import and organise references, utilize shared libraries to support research collaboration, and employ the "Cite While You Write" feature in Microsoft Word, as well as how to work with various citation styles. This free training session—which requires registration—provides practical guidance on managing academic literature and efficiently preparing publications throughout the entire research process.

Our series, titled “Mosaics from the Heritage of ELTE”, presents some of the outstanding cultural heritage of Eötvös Loránd University. The artwork of the month is the Browning Reflector and its Accessories.

On October 21, 2026, Clarivate is organizing a Hungarian-language webinar titled "Exploring and Leveraging the Potential of Open Science," which highlights the roles of open science and research intelligence in enhancing the visibility of scientific outputs. The presentation will demonstrate how tools like Web of Science facilitate the discovery of open-access research, the measurement of research impact, the identification of collaborations, and the development of research strategies. This free webinar—open to researchers, librarians, research managers, and institutional leaders—requires registration and offers practical guidance on increasing the accessibility, visibility, and societal impact of research findings.

On October 29, 2026, Springer Nature is hosting an English-language webinar titled "How do Journals Operate: An Editor's Guide to Navigate the Journal Publication Process," presented by Ties Nijssen, Executive Publisher at the company. The session offers insight into the operations of academic journals and the manuscript review process, while also providing practical advice for successful publication. Participants in this registration-only event can ask questions during a live Q&A session and receive valuable guidance on developing their publication strategies.

As part of the Green Bridge volunteer expert program, we are pleased to welcome groups of elementary and high school students on guided tours of the ELTE University Library and Archives’ Green Library. During the program, we invite students to explore our library building and discover the secrets of our Green Library.

The Department of German Language and Literature at ELTE SEK BDPK and the Austrian Library in Szombathely are organizing an Elfriede Jelinek Day on October 20, 2026, in Room A016 of the ELTE SEK "A" Building. The program includes presentations on Jelinek’s life and work, a literary and translation workshop, and a screening of a documentary about her. The event is part of the "Austria Reads" campaign, and all interested parties are cordially invited.

At the celebratory conference marking the 150th anniversary of the library palace, the photo exhibition by Márta Csikós opened in the community space of the ELTE University Library and Archives entitled “Heritage and Presence – People and Memory in a 150-Year-Old Space,” which focuses on the building and the staff whose daily work ensures the library’s operations.

Through our event organised at the ELTE University Library and Archives as part of this year’s Cultural Heritage Days, we sought to draw attention to the protection of our cultural values and the preservation of our built heritage.

The ELTE–NFI FILMIO University Film Club aims to pay tribute, through the programme it has organised for Researchers’ Night, to László Krasznahorkai, who was awarded an honorary doctorate from ELTE in September 2026, and to film director Béla Tarr, who passed away this year. This was the film they worked on together for the first time, and for which they co-wrote the screenplay. This brought Tarr his first international recognition.
