The ELTE–NFI FILMIO University Film Club awaits you even in the summertime! We welcome university citizens from all ELTE faculties. A film presenting the football successes of the Dunaszerdahely Athletic Club (DAC 1904 FC) and its role in bringing together the Hungarian community in Upper Hungary will be screened as part of the ELTE Carpathian Basin Summer University.

Our series, titled “Mosaics from the Heritage of ELTE”, presents some of the outstanding cultural heritage of Eötvös Loránd University. The artwork of the month is the Bogen–Lipmann Cage.

Our library will be closed from 1 August 2026 to 5 September 2026. We wish everyone a pleasant summer and a restful holiday!

The ELTE University Library and Archives’ series of therapy dog programs during exam season concluded amid great interest. As part of the initiative, more than a thousand students participated in 21 sessions featuring five therapy dogs. The program’s goal was to contribute to students’ mental well-being and provide support amid the increased stress of exam season.

With the support of the Accessible Library Working Group of the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee of the University Library Service, and under the guidance of colleagues from the ELTE Office for Special Student Affairs, on 29 June 2026, an awareness-raising training session organised for ELTE librarians was successfully held with nearly 20 participants.

In the K21 Quality Management Coordination Committee’s second-quarter report for 2026, the working group leaders provided an overview of the results from the past quarter, as well as ongoing work and changes.

The members of the ELTE Heritage Coordination held their first coordinators' day of the year on June 24, 2026, in Göd, at the Huzella Garden, with fifteen participants, including new members. The program began with a professional meeting, then they took part in a meaningful historical walk and museum visit led by László Papp, where they could learn about the past of the place and the Huzella family. The event was not only professionally useful, but also strengthened community building, and new connections and inspiring collaborations were created.

The Reading Hall will be closed on Thursday, 25 June 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. due to technical reasons.

According to our tradition, this year we joined the Night of Museums series of events, which featured the exhibition MTA 200 – Academicians at the university along with craft workshops, concerts, guided tours of the building, exhibitions, animated film screenings, calligraphy workshop, recipe collection, adventure game and restoration workshop presentations.

The 2026 edition of the Journal Citation Reports™ (JCR) provides the global research community with trusted, transparent metrics to assess journal performance and scholarly influence. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how the JCR supports informed decision-making for authors, editors, librarians, research managers, as well as best practices for responsibly using journal-level metrics, including the Journal Impact Factor (JIF), available in JCR profiles along with descriptive open access and contributor information. The session will conclude with practical examples and a live Q&A.

The OpenAIRE Train-the-Trainer Bootcamp aims to prepare professionals working in the field of research support for delivering training on current issues in Open Science, Open Access publishing, and research data management. Staff members from the ELTE University Library and Archives also participated in the program, held 25–29 May, 2026, further expanding and deepening their professional knowledge.

Led by Associate Dean Agnes Pearcy, students from the School of Library and Information Sciences at North Carolina Central University visited the University Library on 10 June 2026 as part of a benchlearning initiative.

Due to the Night of Museums, the library services of the ELTE University Library and Archives will be inaccessible on Saturday, on the 20th of June 2026. Everyone is welcome to join our programmes starting at 15.00.

After twenty years of working together, the staff of the ELTE EKL Savaria Library and Archives bid farewell to Éva on the occasion of her retirement. She joined our university as a librarian at the Institute of Pedagogy, which closed in 2006. We worked together on integrating the 30,000-volume library into the SKL collection, as well as on joint programs such as library competitions, Book Sundays and Teen Gallops. Éva has always remained a librarian at heart and has continuously supported our library’s reader services through volunteer work. We are deeply grateful for her work and cooperation. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor.

With the help of the interactive "audio guide" tour of the ELTE University Library, visitors can discover the secrets and values ​​of the historic library building. The tour is now available in Hungarian, English and Chinese as well as Spanish, and further information can be found on the library's website.

The journal ratings for SCImago Journal & Country Rank 2025 have been published. Scopus currently indexes five journals affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities at ELTE. We heartily congratulate the journal editorial teams and wish them continued success in their work.

Clarivate invites all interested participants to their thematically structured webinar series designed specifically for PhD students. The final session focuses on researcher profiles and developing a long-term strategy. The thematically structured program consists interrelated sessions, but the webinar can also be attended independently.

On the occasion of the Night of Museums series, guitarist Béla Rák will give a concert on 20 June 2026 at 8:30 p.m. at the ELTE University Library and Archives (1053 Budapest, Ferenciek tere 6.).
